House Frohnau

This private home was built for a family of six. The client wished to create an unpretentious house that would harmonize with its surroundings while paying close attention to every detail. The street front of the resulting compact, cuboid building faces northeast. On its southwest side a conservatory opens up towards the garden. The central hallway lies at right angles to the house’s main orientation. A side entrance on the southeast side of the building links the kitchen with the garden and the street. All rooms (four on the ground floor, five on the upper floor) are roughly the same size. They were fitted with solid timber flooring or pure wool carpets, with attractive curtains framing the windows. Particular attention was paid to the design of the oak staircase. The colour scheme of the central hall reflects its importance in the life of the house; its claret-coloured walls convey a cosy sense of home. The dining room and library, painted sky blue and apricot yellow, complete this cheerful interior.
